Tescos to pull out of Northfield High Street

Dreadful news that Tescos are pulling out of Northfield High Street as part of a national programme of store closure that has already attracted a lot of criticism up and down the country (see here and here).

Here is the Letter I have received from Tescos informing me that the store is going to close on or after March 15. I will be talking to Tescos over the coming days about the implications of their plans for our area and the impact on staff. I’ll also be talking to Usdaw who represent the staff.

The health of Northfield High Street is vital for our local economy and I am already in touch with Northfield Business Improvement District, the Northfield Community Partnership and Brett O’Reilly, the City Council’s Chair of Northfield District, to discuss our local response.
