You have less than a week to register to vote in the upcoming local elections.
Don’t lost your right to vote, registering takes just minutes using your National Insurance Number here: https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.
Every individual now needs to register themselves rather than being registered by one person in a household. Unless you register, you lose your voice on issues that directly affect you, your family and your friends.
Even if you are unsure whether you are registered to vote or not, you can submit a new online form and the local Electoral Registration Office will either confirm your existing eligibility or process your new form.
You have until Monday 18th April – that’s less than a week – if you want to vote in the local elections on 5th May. Registering now will also ensure you’re registered for future elections too, that includes the EU Referendum on 23rd June.
The electoral register isn’t only about being able to vote. It is also used to confirm an individual’s address in applications for credit, such as mortgages, loans or mobile phone contracts. Not being on the register may contribute to being refused credit.
If you want to find out more information about voting and registration beforehand, you can do so on the About My Vote website here:http://www.aboutmyvote.co.uk/.
