This week (1-7 June) marks Volunteers’ Week which is a chance to celebrate the contribution that volunteers make in the community.
Across the country and in Birmingham Northfield selfless volunteers put their time, energy and enthusiasm into helping others.
Whether it’s volunteering at a food bank or supporting training sessions at a local sports club, I’m aware that there are hundreds of volunteers in the constituency. It was even great to welcome so many support my re-election campaign! To those of you who did, thanks again.
But to all volunteers in our area, thank you also. Your work is central to building a community spirit and creating a more participatory society.
Following the Queen’s Speech last week, Parliament is now up and running following the General Election. The next few weeks will therefore be even busier than usual! However if you run an organisation or volunteer at one in Northfield, I’d be delighted to join you for a visit and see how I can support your work in the future.
If you would like me to visit your organisation, please email me at Richard.burden.mp@parliament.uk.
I also welcome opportunities for people to come and volunteer in my office from time to time. If you’re interested in helping out and gaining some experience visit the Get Involved page on my website.
