Tribute to Del Singh

T

News that Del Singh has been killed in an attack in Kabul has been devastating for me, as it has been for so many of his friends in the UK and around the world.

Del was a respected international development worker and Labour candidate for the European Parliament. However, I knew him best for his tireless work to secure justice for the people of Palestine. He was an absolutely key figure in the development of Labour Friends of Palestine and the Middle East to secure the voice it has in mainstream Labour politics today. As Vice Chair of LFPME, as Chair of the Britain-Palestine  All Party Parliamentary Group and as a friend, I will miss him.

LFPME Chair, Grahame Morris MP speaks for all of us in this tribute to Del:

“The sad death of Del Singh will be felt deeply by his family, many friends and comrades. Del spent his life fighting for justice and to make the world a better place for all in it. Now tragically he has given his life for those ideals. Del’s comrades in Labour Friends of Palestine will continue his work to achieve a just peace for the Palestinian people, to fight human rights abuses and to strive to make the world a better place following Del’s selfless  example and unwavering commitment to social justice.”
