In Parliament I chair two all-party groups on the Middle East – one on Palestine and the other on Jordan.
I am also the Vice-Chair of Labour Friends of Palestine and the Middle East.
I have had an active interest in this region since writing my university dissertation and I try to visit the area regularly to see for myself the situation on the ground and to meet key players. I regularly speak on this issue in Parliament as well as writing articles and commenting on developments.
The Britain-Palestine All Party Parliamentary Group seeks to foster good relations and understanding between Britain and Palestine and to promote a just and durable peace in the Middle East.
The Jordan All Party Parliamentary Group seeks to promote interest in and knowledge of Jordan and to establish contacts between parliamentarians of the two countries.
The secretariat of both groups is provided by Caabu – the Council for Arab British Understanding.
