Popular bus stop to be reinstated

P

I am pleased that a popular bus stop is to be reinstated outside Northfield Shopping Centre.

In October Transport West Midlands took the decision to decommission several bus stops in and around Northfield Town Centre as part of a pilot to review journey times on the local bus network. However the suspension of several bus services from outside Northfield Shopping Centre has caused disruption for both local businesses and bus users.

I know how important local buses are for the accessibility and wellbeing of Northfield Town Centre. Many local residents added their names to a petition put forward by the Northfield Business Improvement District (BID) calling for Transport for West Midlands to suspend its pilot and reinstate. I also wrote to the Managing Director of Transport for West Midlands to urge them to consider the request of Northfield BID and reinstate the decommissioned bus stops.

I would like to congratulate Northfield BID on their successful campaign to reinstate this popular bus stop that will reopen outside Northfield Shopping Centre on Monday 5th February.
