Public Consultation on Longbridge Redevelopment – 25 November

P

Ahead of today’s public consultation event in Longbridge, last week Labour Councillors Brett O’Reilly, Ian Cruise, Andy Cartwright and I looked at some of the options for addressing some of traffic “pinch points” around the Longbridge redevelopment site.

The picture shows Brett and I discussing the Coombes Lane/Turves Green/Longbridge Lane junction with Council officials. Also examined on the day were the Longbridge island area, the area near Longbridge station, the Tessall Lane/Farren Road area, and the Groveley Lane/Longbridge Lane/Cofton Road area. We also took the opportunity of the officials’ visit to take up a number of other traffic hazards which have been raised with us in nearby areas of Northfield even if unrelated to the Longbridge redevelopment.

We stressed the importance of understanding the needs of all road users when planning changes – whether motorists, public transport users, pedestrians, motorcyclists or cyclists.

Today’s public consultation event on the next phase of the Longbridge development takes place today from 4pm. It is at Severn House (near the new Sainsburys and Bournville College) in Longbridge. You can find our more here.
